Halifax W7821 at Riccall airfield.
At 23.46hrs on 25th April 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft swung on landing at Riccall airfield during a training flight. The swung was unfortunately over-corrected and the aircraft came to rest with the port undercarriage collapsed. The damage saw the aircraft written off. Just three days later this pilot and his crew failed to return from another training flight with 1658 H.C.U. when Halifax BB374 collided over the Irish Sea with another Halifax. He has no known grave.
Pilot - F/Sgt Walter Henry Rumney RAFVR (1338135).
