Beaufort W6469 at Catfoss airfield.
On 21st February 1944 this aircraft was in the process of taking off from Catfoss airfield when a propeller flew off. The pilot abandoned taking off but could not stop the aircraft running off the end of the runway, across the overshoot area and into an ajoining field. The aircraft came to rest badly damaged, probably after the undercarriage legs collapsed. The aircraft had been on charge with No.2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit but they had disbanded six days earlier, where to and who the aircraft was being flown by is not yet known.
Crew - Names unknown.
