Halifax W1173 at Topcliffe airfield.
During the evening of 11th February 1944 this 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a circuits and landings training exercise using Topcliffe airfield. At 23.33hrs the aircraft landed successfully. The pilot was taxying around the airfield at too great speed when a sharp turn was made, a ground loop then occurred and the aircraft's undercarriage collapsed.
