Halifax W1112 at Topcliffe airfield.

During the morning of 27th March 1944 this 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was to be flown on a circuits and landings training exercise using Topcliffe airfield. At 10.03hrs whilst taking off from Topcliffe both port engines lost power causing the aircraft to swing off the runway and onto soft ground. An undercarriage leg collapsed and the aircraft came to rest with damage deemed enough to write it off. One member of the crew sustained injuries.
