Halifax R9368 at Topcliffe airfield.
On 22nd March 1944 this 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was used by its crew to fly a circuits and landings training exercise using Topcliffe airfield. While taking off for one of the short flights the port main tyre burst. The pilot managed to get airborne and after a short flight the aircraft landed at Topcliffe at 17.43hrs but the aircraft swung off the runway resulting in the undrcarriage collapsing. The aircraft was badly damaged and was not repaired.
