Oxford R6098 at Linton on Ouse airfield.
On 10th August 1944 this aircraft was having it's engines run up at Linton on Ouse airfield when the undercarriage collapsed. The aircraft received damage deemed enough not to warrant a repair. The aircraft was on the books of the Station Flight at Linton on Ouse at the time of the incident.
While not exactly confirming what happened, Thothorpe Flying Control's log book mentions the events around what is probably this incident. It was due to have been flown from Linton on Ouse with take off being between 14.00hrs and 15.00hrs so that S/Ldr Ewan could attend a conference at Hendon with Handley Page. W/O Self was to have been the pilot. It then goes on to state that at 15.00hrs that the "Linton Oxford" was "now U/S".
