Lancaster PB519 at Marston Moor airfield.
On the night of 28th / 29th October 1944 the crew of this 49 Squadron aircraft took off from Fulbeck at 22.36hrs to undertake an operational flight to bomb Bergen. This crew did not release their bomb load over the target as they could not locate any target indicators. Owing to poor weather over Lincolnshire returning 49 Squadron aircraft were diverted to land in Yorkshire. This Lancaster landed at Marston Moor airfield at 04.56hrs but overshot, probably lost it's undercarriage, and crashed onto a road at the north eastern side of the airfield.
