Spitfire P7384 at Catfoss airfield.
On 25th April 1944 this Central Gunnery School aircraft was in the process of taking off from Catfoss airfield when a tyre burst before it left the ground, the pilot lost control and the aircraft overturned. The pilot is believed to have escaped serious injury but the aircraft was assessed as beyond repair.
Pilot - F/O John Frederick Olver RAAF (408503). Slightly injured.
The pilot was a serving 453 Squadron officer. He was attached to the C.G.S. for training at the time of this incident.
