Seafire NX958 near Wilsden.

On 16th March 1944 this aircraft was being flown over Yorkshire by it's Fleet Air Arm pilot when bad weather was encountered. The aircraft is listed in the production lists on the internet as being on the transit flight between Crail airfield and HMS Pretoria Castle at the time and was being flown by a 778 Squadron pilot. He force landed in a field near Wilsden railway station and while the aircraft was damaged it was later repaired. The station was just west of Wilsden on the Bradford to Haworth line.
