Halifax NP996 damaged in the air, landed at Leconfield airfield.
During the afternoon of 16th November 1944 this 640 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to bomb Julich and took off from Leconfield at 12.40hrs. The crew released their bomb load short of the target indicators marking the target area at 15.32hrs from 14,000 feet and while over the target area the aircraft was struck by flak. Superficial damage resulted. The crew flew back to Leconfield and landed without incident at 17.24hrs.
