Halifax NP950 at Pocklington airfield.

During the afternoon of 7th October 1944 this 102 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to bomb a target at Kleve and took off from Pocklington at 11.51hrs. The crew released their bomb load onto the target at 14.09hrs from 13,000 feet. The aircraft landed at Pocklington at 16.25hrs but the pilot believed the brake pressure was low after landing and fearing the aircraft would over-run and also to avoid a collision with some civilians in the area he swung the aircraft. Managing too avoid the collision with the civilians, that would have been far worse, a collision with a parked van occurred which slightly damaged the aircraft.
