Halifax NP814 damaged in the air, landed at Linton on Ouse airfield.
On the evening of 4th December 1944 this 426 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to bomb Karlsruhe and took off from Linton on Ouse airfield at 16.52hrs. The crew released their bomb load at 19.34hrs from 19,000 feet onto the glow of the fires already burning on the target below because thick cloud prevented the crew from visually seeing the target. Around the time of releasing the bomb load the aircraft was struck by something that caused damage to the starboard mainplane. The crew believed that it may have been a collision with another aircraft but despite the damage the flew back to Linton on Ouse and landed at 23.44hrs.
