Halifax NP745 damaged in the air, returned to Linton on Ouse airfield.
On the night of 16th / 17th August 1944 the crew of this 408 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb a target at Kiel and they took off from Linton on Ouse airfield at 21.43hrs. They released their bomb load onto target markers from 20,000 feet at 00.15hrs. The aircraft was struck and damaged by flak that eventually saw the port outer engine fail on the flight back to Yorkshire. Despite the damage the crew returned to Linton on Ouse and they landed at 03.07hrs.
