During the afternoon of 18th October 1944 this Halifax was being flown by a pilot and flight engineer of No.7 Ferry Pilot Pool of the ATA and a fractured hydraulic pipe saw an escape of the fluid within it. The crew had no placed the undercarriage up-locks in place so the undercarriage then lowered by itself. A normal landing appears to have been made at Sherburn in Elmet airfield probably without further damage at 15.00hrs.
