Halifax NA586 damaged in the air, landed at Burn airfield.
During the afternoon of 3rd August 1944 this 578 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to bomb a target at L'Isle-Adam, Bois de Cassan and took off from Burn airfield at 11.45hrs. The crew released their bomb load onto the target area at 14.03hrs from 14,500 feet but while over the target area a bomb released by a higher flying Lancaster struck the Halifax's starboard wing and damaged it. Despite the damage the crew managed to fly the aircraft back to Burn and land at 15.49hrs.
