Halifax NA581 damaged in the air, landed at Tholthorpe airfield.
On the night of 28th / 29th July 1944 the crew of this 425 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb a target at Hamburg. The crew took off from Tholthorpe airfield at 22.15hrs. They released their bomb load onto target markers from 18,800 feet at 01.17hrs. At 01.34hrs a flak burst caused damaged to the aeroplane. Despite the damage the crew returned to Tholthorpe and landed at 04.10hrs.
