Halifax NA520 at Full Sutton airfield.
During the early hours of 6th June 1944 this 77 Squadron aircraft was to have been flown on an operational flight to bomb the Maisy gun battery in Normandy ahead of the D-Day invasion. At 01.25hrs Halifax LL544 was being taxied along the perimeter track at Full Sutton prior to taking off when it collided with Halifax NA520 that moved out of a dispersal point ahead of LL544. The attention of all involved was deemed to have been distracted by burning the Halifax NA511 that had just crashed on take off.
