Halifax MZ867 damaged in the air, returned to Leeming airfield.

>During the morning of 15th August 1944 the crew of this 427 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb the airfield at Soesterberg and they took off from Leeming airfield at 09.50hrs. They released their bomb load onto the target from 15,000 feet at 12.01hrs and returned to land at Leeming without incident at 13.40hrs. When inspected on the ground the leading edge of the starboard wing was found to have been dented in the area between the two engines but how the dent was caused was not known, it was probably struck by a falling bomb from a higher flying aeroplane.
