Halifax MZ857 at Skipton on Swale airfield.
During the afternoon of 30th December 1944 this 433 Squadron aircraft was being flown to allow a more experienced pilot check the ability of two new pilots to 433 Squadron. After a flight lasting 49 minutes the aircraft landed at Skipton on Swale. At 16.10hrs the aircraft was being taxied around the airfield but the speed the aircraft was being taxied was deemed to be rather fast. While taxying on the perimeter track the starboard tyre burst, because of the speed the aircraft swung off perimeter track and into a soft area of ground which caused the starboard hub to dig into the ground and the aircraft to swing around. The starboard undercarriage leg then collapsed.
