Halifax MZ809 damaged in the air, landed at Full Sutton airfield.
During the afternoon of 11th September 1944 the crew of this 77 Squadron aircraft were detailed to fly an operational flight to bomb Nordstern and they took off from Full Sutton airfield
at 16.10hrs. The crew released their bomb load onto the target at 18.55hrs from 19,000 feet and while over the target area the aircraft was struck and damaged by flak. Despite the damage the
crew returned to Full Sutton and landed at 20.45hrs. The fuselage and bomb doors were found to have had numerous flak holes after the aircraft landed.
