Halifax MZ804 damaged in the air, landed at Full Sutton airfield.

On the night of 12th / 13th August 1944 the crew of this 77 Squadron aircraft were detailed to fly an operational flight to bomb Brunswick and they took off from Full Sutton airfield at 21.15hrs. The crew found the target obscured by cloud but located a target using the H2S and released their bomb load from 18,000 feet at 00.14hrs. At 00.51hrs the aircraft was attacked by an enemy fighter which caused extensive damage across the Halifax. Despite the damage the crew returned to Full Sutton and landed at 03.10. Damage was found to have occurred to the starboard tail plane, bomb doors, starboard fuselage near the rest position and in a number of places in the starboard wing.
