Halifax MZ794 at Snaith airfield.
At 14.40hrs on 26th August 1944 this 51 Squadron aircraft was being turned in a dispersal point at Snaith airfield when the tail wheel ran off the concrete, onto the grass and into a rut causing it to break off. While this incident was caused by pilot error his handling of a potentially more serious incident on 3rd September 1944 in Halifax MZ758 after a double port engine failure and also hydraulic failure saw him cleared of any blame. The pilot and some of his 51 Squadron crew were later posted to 35 Squadron and killed on 5th January 1945.
Pilot - WO Kenneth Potts RAFVR (1383820).
