Halifax MZ771 at Pocklington airfield.

At around 15.30hrs on 3rd September 1944 this 102 Squadron aircraft swung on take off from Pocklington airfield while attempting to take off for an operational flight to bomb Venlo airfield. No damage resulted but the aircraft came to rest near the runway and would have been a hazard to aircraft behind awaiting take-off clearance. A tractor was then used to tow the aircraft away but in doing so the tail wheel ran into boggy ground, sank and then broke. The other aircraft behind this one all got airborne.

No crew.
