Halifax MZ749 (possibly) damaged in the air at Croft airfield.
During the morning of 24th June 1944 this 434 Squadron aircraft was flown on what was probably an airtest prior to operational sorties later in the day. During this flight the leading edge of the port tailplane sustained some damage. It caused the aircraft to vibrate and while a safe landing was made at Croft the decision was made that it would not be used on an operational flight to bomb a target at Bonnetot, France that afternoon.
Pilot - F/lt Murray Franklin Flewelling RCAF (J/18927).
Crew - Names unknown.
