Halifax MZ708 damaged in the air, landed at Full Sutton airfield.

On the night of 12th / 13th August 1944 the crew of this 77 Squadron aircraft were detailed to fly an operational flight to bomb Russelsheim and they took off from Full Sutton airfield at 21.30hrs. The crew released their bomb load onto the target onto fires as ordered by the Master Bomber from 18,000 feet at 00.24hrs. The aircraft was damaged by flak in the course of this night but despite the damage the crew returned to Full Sutton and landed at 03.20hrs. Damage was found on the starboard wing and wing tip.
