Halifax MZ676 at Burn airfield.
On 20th October 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft carried out a night circuits and landings training exercise at Burn airfield. During one of the landings there at 20.00hrs the tail oleo casting broke and the aircraft was slightly damaged. There is no AM Form 1180 for this incident, the only information located to date was found in the Riccall airfield station record book. The AM Form 78 does not mention a damage assessment but does state that a repair on site was begun by Handley Page on 31st October 1944.
