Halifax MZ673 at Carnaby airfield.

On the night of 16th / 17th June 1944 this 77 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb a target at Sterkrade. The crew took off from Full Sutton airfield at 23.15hrs and released their bomb load over the target area from 20,000 feet at 01.32hrs. On the return flight towards Yorkshire the aircraft suffered a hydraulic fluid leak and then hydraulic failure. The flight engineer was unable to lower the undercarriage so, at 03.45hrs, the aircraft made a belly landing at Carnaby airfield.
