Halifax MZ634 at Riccall airfield.
During the afternoon of 10th October 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a training flight that involved flying on and landing with three engine at Riccall airfield. At 14.20hrs the aircraft landed with one engine shut down but it initially bounced on on touching down, then swung off the runway when it touched down again. The aircraft could not be brought to a halt before it ran into an ajoining wood at the edge of the airfield (Skipwith Common?). The trainee crew were later posted to 158 Squadron.
