Halifax MZ626 damaged in the air, landed at Dishforth airfield.

On 5th August 1944 the crew of this 434 Squadron aircraft were tasked with flying an operational flight to bomb V.1 storage tunnels at St. Leu D'Esserent, France and took off from Croft airfield at 10.35hrs. During the course of the flight the aeroplane received minor flak damage. The crew released their bomb load onto target indicator markers at 13.22hrs from 15,500 feet. Despite the damage the crew flew back to Yorkshire but landed at Dishforth at 15.55hrs. Three other 434 Squadron Halifaxes landed at Dishforth on their return.
