Halifax MZ600 damaged in the air, returned to East Moor airfield.

On the evening of 20th July 1944 the crew of this 431 Squadron aircraft flew an operational flight to bomb a target at Anderbelck and took off from Croft airfield at 18.52hrs. The crew dropped their bomb load from 14,000 feet at 21.16hrs on to target indicators. During the course of the flight the aeroplane was slightly damaged by flak. Despite the damage the crew returned to East Moor and landed safely at 22.55hrs.
