Halifax MZ571 at Full Sutton airfield.
On the evening of 30th October 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was to have been flown on a circuits and landings training exercise using Full Sutton airfield, not their parent airfield of Riccall. While taking off from Full Sutton at 21.02hrs the aircraft swung off the runway and the port undercarriage ran through a ditch some 65 yards from the runway. Unfortunately this then caused the port undercarriage leg to collapse.
