Halifax MZ360 damaged in the air, landed at Full Sutton airfield.
During the afternoon of 6th October 1944 the crew of this 77 Squadron aircraft were detailed to fly an operational flight to bomb Scholven and they took off from Full Sutton airfield at 14.35hrs. The crew
released their bomb load onto the target at 17.03hrs from 18,500 feet and while over the target area the aircraft was struck and damaged by flak across the aircraft. A 500lb bomb hung up and had to be
jettisoned later. Despite the damage the crew returned to Full Sutton and landed at 18.50hrs. Flak damage was found to have occurred across the aircraft, with damage found in a number of places in the
starboard wing, and also the front and rear fuselage.
