Halifax MZ348 damaged in the air, landed at Snaith airfield.

On the evening 31st October 1944 this 51 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational flight to bomb Cologne and took off from Snaith airfield at 18.05hrs. The crew released their bomb load onto the target area from 16,500 feet at 21.05hrs but while over the target area the aircraft was struck by a falling 500lb bomb released by a higher flying aircraft. Having received minor damage to the fuselage the crew flew back to Snaith and landed without incident at 23.15hrs.
