Halifax MZ306 damaged in the air, landed at Driffield airfield.
On 12th September 1944 the crew of this 462 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Gelsenkirchen-Buer and took off from Driffield airfield at 10.36hrs. The crew released their bomb load
onto the target area from 18,000 feet at 13.36hrs. During the course of this flight the aircraft was slightly damaged by flak which slightly injured the bomb aimer. Despite the damage the aircraft returned
to Driffield and landed at 15.26hrs. The injured airman was taken to the airfield hospital.
