Halifax MZ299 damaged in the air, landed at Driffield airfield.
On 6th October 1944 the crew of this 466 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Sterkrade and took off from Driffield airfield at 14.25hrs. The
crew released their bomb load onto the target area from 17,000 feet at 17.17hrs. During the course of this flight the aircraft was slightly damaged by flak which
slightly injured the mid upper gunner on his face. Despite the damage the aircraft returned to Driffield and landed at 19.20hrs. The injured airman was taken to the airfield sick quarters.
