Halifax LW676 at Tholthorpe airfield.

On the night of 18th / 19th April 1944 this 420 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational sortie to bomb an ammunition depot target at Noisy le Sec, France and took off from Tholthorpe at 21.03hrs. The aircraft was piloted by P/O Harold Osbourne Foy RCAF (J/85446). The crew released their bomb load from 15,000 feet at 23.56hrs and returned to Tholthorpe where they landed without incident at 02.32hrs. A short time later Halifax LW676's crew had left the aircraft and it was being towed behind a tractor into a dispersal area at Tholthorpe airfield, as it entered the dispersal it collided with Halifax LW645 that was already parked there. Damage occurred to both aeroplanes.
