Halifax LW645 at Tholthorpe airfield.

On the night of 18th / 19th April 1944 this 420 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational sortie to bomb an ammunition depot at Noisy le Sec, France and took off from Tholthorpe at 21.00hrs. The aircraft was piloted by P/O John Murray Boadway RCAF (J/85410). The crew released their bomb load from 15,000 feet at 23.58hrs and returned to Tholthorpe where they landed without incident at 01.45hrs. The aircraft was either taxied into a dispersal or towed there where it was parked and left empty. Shortly after 02.30hrs on 19th April 1944 420 Squadron Halifax LW676 was being towed behind a tractor into the dispersal area when a collision occurred. Damage occurred to both aeroplanes.
