Halifax LW630 at Holme on Spalding Moor airfield.
At 17.30hrs on 17th March 1944 this 76 Squadron aircraft was being looked over by ground crew at Holme on Spalding Moor airfield when a member of ground crew operated the hand hydraulic pump to retract the flaps back into the wings the undercarriage suddenly collapsed. It later transpired that someone had left the undercarriage lever in the "up" position so when the hand pump was operated the pressure was released from the hydraulics on the legs and they folded.
