Halifax LW581 at Lissett airfield.
During the morning of 11th February 1944 this 158 Squadron aircraft was to have been flown on an airtest. On take off from Lissett airfield at 14.35hrs and just prior to becoming airborne the starboard inner engine failed. The aircraft then ground looped and the impact broke off the undercarriage. An airman who was occupying the rear turret sustained a fractured skull.
