Halifax LW576 at Croft airfield.

This 431 Squadron aircraft appears to have been selected for use on an operational flight on the evening of 9th August 1944 to bomb a target at La Bretique. Other 431 Squadron crews took off from Croft at around 21.30hrs but this aircraft appears to have got bogged down while taxying prior to taking off. At 22.30hrs ground crew were attempting to free the aircraft from the boggy ground with a tractor and a bowser as towing vehicles when the tail wheel was pulled off the aircraft by the bowser.

No crew.
