Halifax LW519. Landed at Breighton airfield.
During the morning of 14th May 1944 this 78 Squadron aircraft was flown on a fighter affiliation exercise. During the exercise, at 11.30hrs, the pilot of the Halifax took evasive action to avoid a similated attack by a fighter aircraft. Unfortunately the second pilot was not strapped in and he was thrown down into the nose of the aircraft during a violent corkscrew and sustained serious injuries. The aircraft appears to have sustained no damage and landed safely back at base of Breighton.
