Halifax LW517 at Breighton airfield.
During the early hours of 3rd February 1944 Halifax LV817 of 78 Squadron aircraft was flown on an operational mine laying flight. On landing at Breighton at 07.43hrs the aircraft swung off the runway and struck the tail of Halifax LW517 that was parked some distance from the runway. LV817 continued and ran into a bank that caused the starboard undercarriage leg to collapse. Halifax LV817 was damaged beyond repair while LW517 was only very slightly damaged.
