Halifax LW477 at Leconfield airfield.

640 Squadron partly formed out of "C-Flight" 158 Squadron at Lissett with that becoming "A-Flight" of 640 Squadron on 7th January 1944, this specific aircraft was transferred from 158 Squadron to 640 Squadron on 16th January 1944 but it appears to have remained at Lissett until 23rd January 1944 when "C-Flight" 158 Squadron / "A-Flight" 640 Squadron moved from Lissett to Leconfield. On the ferry flight between the two airfields a gusty wind was effecting the landing at Leconfield at 10.40hrs, so much so that the pilot allowed the aircraft to bounce on landing and the starboard rudder tip struck the ground. Minor damage resulted.

Pilot - F/O James Dutton Laidlaw RCAF (J/23294).
