Halifax LW465 damaged in the air, landed at Burn airfield.

On the evening of 12th September 1944 this 578 Squadron aircraft was used to fly an operational flight to bomb a target at Munster and took off from Burn airfield at 16.25hrs. The crew released their bomb load onto the target at 18.40hrs from 18,000 feet. The squadron records state that the aircraft was damaged by flak across the aircraft while there is an AM Form 1180 that states the aircraft was damaged by incendiaries released from a higher flying aircraft over the target. Whether the squadron records are wrong or both occurred is not confirmed. Despite the damage the crew landed safely at Burn at 20.28hrs.
