Halifax LW379 damaged in the air, returned to Tholthorpe airfield.
On the night of 7th / 8th July 1944 the crew of this 425 Squadron aircraft flew an operational flight to bomb a target at Caen and took off from Tholthorpe at 19.50hrs. The crew released their bomb load onto target markers from 7400 feet at 22.21hrs and while in the target area the aeroplane was slightly damaged by flak. Despite the damage the crew returned to Tholthorpe and landed safely at 00.18hrs.
