Halifax LW345 at Lindholme airfield.

On 24th June 1944 this 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a night training exercise. The aircraft took off from Lindholme at around 22.10hrs. A short time later the aircraft had climbed to 2,000 feet when the port outer engine suffered a lack of oil pressure and had to be shut down. The crew returned to Lindholme and while attempting at landing at 22.32hrs the aircraft swung off the runway. It then ground looped and the undercarriage collapsed. The aircraft then burst into flames. Two of the crew sustained minor injuries. The crew were later posted to 103 Squadron.

Pilot - F/O Louis Joseph Camile Remy RAFVR (131868).

Flight Engineer - Name unknown. Leg injuries.

Air Gunner - F/O Georges Alexandre Gillies Bechoux RAFVR (158813). Head injuries. Admitted to Rauceby Hospital on 29th June 1944.

Rest of crew - Names unconfirmed, though possibly F/O Remy's crew who were posted to 103 Squadron in August 1944.
