Halifax LW299 at Marston Moor airfield.
On 12th June 1944 this 1652 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a circuits and landings training exercise at Marston Moor airfield. During a normal landing at 12.37hrs the port undercarriage leg broke off and the aircraft skidded to a halt. A flaw in the casting was the reason for the fault which saw the aircraft written off after inspection of the damage.
Pilot - Sgt Maurice Stephen Bruce RAFVR (1339080).
