Halifax LW234 at Riccall airfield.

During the afternoon of 15th September 1944 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a circuits and landings training exercise at Riccall airfield. During landing at 14.43hrs the aircraft began to swing off the runway, the pilot over-corrected the swung causing the aircraft to lift off the starboard wheel. The port wing tip struck the ground and the starboard undercarriage was then damage once it dropped back to the ground.
