Halifax LW194 damaged in the air, returned to Skipton on Swale airfield.
During the afternoon of 24th June 1944 the crew of this 424 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb a target at Bonnetot and took off from Skipton on Swale airfield at 15.04hrs. They released their bomb load onto target markers from 12,800 feet at 17.02hrs but the aircraft was damaged by flak shortly after leaving the target area. Despite the damage the crew returned to base, landing at Skipton on Swale at 18.51hrs. Damage must have only been slight as it was used operationally the following morning.
