Halifax LW122 at Skipton on Swale airfield.
On 17th July 1944 this 433 Squadron aircraft was to have been flown on a fighter affiliation exercise. On take off from Skipton on Swale airfield at 11.08hrs the starboard inner engine back fired. The pilot reduced the power to the engines and attempted to stop the aircraft but at the speed it was travelling he could not prevent it from passing through the boundary fence.
